Rack System vs. Shingle System

Shingle System: With a faster installation and more natural look, solar shingle systems can be placed on roof shingles, which means they don’t require the installation of a rack.

Rack System: Having been around for a longer period of time, the rack system is just as good as it’s always been. Due to requiring a rack, solar panels can be installed on just about any roof.

Micro vs. Regular

Micro Inverters: With the ability for panels to function individually, you won’t have to worry about keeping shade, debris, or snow off to get energy production.

Regular Inverters: While regular inverters aren’t quite as energy efficient, they cost less, and are easier to troubleshoot if something isn’t working properly.

Storage vs. Generator

Storage: Backup Battery options are more expensive, but ensure that if your power goes out you will have an energy source regardless of how much fuel you have. Batteries are also easier to install, quiet, and easy to maintain.

Generator: When the power goes out, a standby generator will automatically kick on and can run for extended periods of time. When it comes to generators, as long as you have fuel you are good to go.

About Our Products

Over the past two decades, solar technology has grown by leaps and bounds. With so many different brands and models available, our MHX Solar team has taken the time to research the best products on the market so our customers have access to affordable and accessible solar panels, inverters, and batteries to power their homes.

Solar Panels

When sunlight hits your roof, your solar panels convert photons into electrons, converting the energy into direct current (DC) electricity. Of course, the more efficient your panels, the more electricity you’ll be able to generate to power your home.

All of our solar panels come from ABC Supply, a wholesale solar roofing product distributor. From ABC Supply, our panels are made by one of two industry-leading manufacturers: Jinko Solar and CertainTeed

Both of these manufacturers have a long history of designing high-quality, efficient solar panels that are designed to last for years. This helps homeowners get a faster return on investment, helping to confirm your solar panel installation as a financially sound decision.

Best of all, Jinko Solar and CertainTeed solar panels come with comprehensive warranty coverage, so your investment is protected. More specifically, Jinko Solar panels come with up to a 25-year linear power warranty and the company boasts one of the lowest warranty claims in the industry.

CertainTeed solar panels come with up to a 25-year warranty, which covers the installation of your system when you work with a CertainTeed-credentialed solar installer like MHX Solar.

Solar power inverters are another important part of your solar panel system. Inverters are what convert the electricity your solar panels produce into a form of energy that can be used throughout your home.

Our team installs inverters made by Enphase and Sol-Ark, two of the most reliable inverter manufacturers in the country. Both companies produce microinverters, which help make your system more reliable.

If your system has a central inverter instead of microinverters, all solar production will stop if the inverter fails. Alternatively, when you have one microinverter per module, your system will continue to produce energy even if one of the microinverters fails.

Microinverters also help increase your system’s productivity. With a central inverter, your system works together. So, if one panel is obstructed, the whole system is less productive. When your system uses microinverters, on the other hand, each panel operates independently, so obstructions are less disruptive to your energy output.

Enphase microinverters are backed by a 25-year limited warranty. Similarly, Sol-Ark microinverters come with a 25-year warranty.

To get the most use out of your solar panel system, you’ll need a solar battery system, which can store excess electricity generated by your panels. Then, your system can tap into that stored energy to continue powering your home even at night or on cloudy days, when your system isn’t getting any sun.

The MHX Solar team only installs solar batteries made by Enphase and Lithion. We love the battery storage systems from both of these manufacturers because they are made with cobalt-free lithium iron phosphate (LFP) technology, which is safer and higher performing than other solar battery technologies.

Beyond that, LFP batteries tend to have a longer lifespan than other technologies, they’re easier to recycle, and they’re sustainably sourced, making them the perfect choice for environmentally conscious homeowners.

Simply put, battery storage from Enphase or Lithion can help your home stay connected, regardless of the weather outside, offering you the best possible solar experience.
